Homework Saturday 5th December
This week we begin our new unit of inquiry on Astronomy
The Y5 classes compete to be the first to collect 100 different items related to "Space" Please bring these Space items to school Sunday and Monday this week.
We reached number 41 today :)
For example; a Mars bar wrapper (represents the planet Mars), an empty box (represents the 'space' inside) Children should research and do lots of thinking during this activity.
Maths - Daily Maths 1 + 2
Photocopy Masters p126
Times Tables - Multipliction and Division Fast recall
http://www.learnyourtables.co.uk/ (I like this website)
www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/maths/timestable/interactive.htm
There are many interactive games on the website above that will help you to learn and remember your timestables facts. Try them until you find one that makes you think and challenges you.
I recommend "Ghost Blasters" "Maths Magician" and "Meteor Multiplication", but you might prefer one of the other games. Enjoy :)
(If you don't have internet access then write down random numbers and try to multiply them quickly - check your results carefully to see how you have done.)
Spelling - Crossword and collect 5 personal spellings

Happy Holidays
There is no homework issued for the holiday.
However, please read the advice pamphlet included in the report envelope.
Three months is a very long time and much of the progress made this year could be forgotten.
Rehearse your times tables. All Y6 children should know the multiplication and division facts and be able to recall them quickly.
6 x 7 = 42
7 x 6 = 42
42 ÷ 7 = 6
42 ÷ 6 = 7
Remember if you know one fact you already know three more.
Keep a holiday diary in English and your home language. Try to learn a new word each day.
Read read read - holidays are a great time to enjoy reading books of your choice.
Take Care. Stay safe.
Have fun.
I look forward to seeing you all next year.
